The BERU f1systems Ground Speed Sensor is a non-contact
Doppler radar speed sensor suitable for a wide variety
of applications. It is designed to be mounted on a car
to measure ground speed in situations where wheel
speed sensors cannot be guaranteed to read true car
speed, due to excessive wheel spin or lack of contact
wit the ground.
The sensor works on all surfaces and is unaffected by
surface type, and finish. It also is equally
unaffected by wet and dry surfaces. The sensor can
also be used as a stationary device to measure the
speed of moving objects, and we are able to offer a
power and display unit for such applications.
The output of the sensor is a pulse train, with its
frequency proportional to speed, thus emulating a
standard speed sensor and allowing it to be connected
in the place of a wheel speed sensor, if desired. The
sum of the number of pulses may also be used to
determine distance. Optionally the output can be an
analogue 0-5V signal or a user defined CAN message for
direct connection to CAN bus.
